The Uphill Battle/Polly Shortts In the heart of South Africa, where the veldt stretches wide, A runner laces up, determination as their guide. Comrades Marathon awaits, a grueling test of might, And Pollyshorts looms ahead, a formidable height. The sun peeks over the Drakensberg’s rugged crest, As our runner sets forth, fueled by dreams and zest. Their breath syncs with each footfall, muscles taut and strong, Ascending  Polly Shortts , where legends prove they belong. The path winds upward, relentless and steep, A symphony of effort, a promise to keep. The eucalyptus whispers secrets of endurance, As the runner pushes onward, fueled by resilience. Mist clings to their skin, a cool embrace, And the mountain’s rocky face challenges their pace. But they press on, eyes fixed on the summit’s crown, Where victory awaits, and doubt is overthrown.
